The missionary activities that led to the founding of the Mission School of Hope commenced in 1980 when my (Pastor Charles Sagay) team and I started preaching the Word of God from one community to the other, in cities and villages, from house to house and from hut to hut. We were convicted that the Love of Jesus Christ was what these communities needed, and that through His love they could attain the unattainable. The Baka community in the east region of Cameroon is one of such communities we reached out to. As we remained steadfast and committed to what God had called us to do, God was glorified. We were encouraged to see the transformation in the lives of many community members. Although it has been a slow process that requires much patience and prayers, we can testify to the positive changes in the lives of the people as time goes by, and we can boldly say that there is hope for the Baka.
The main vision of the Mission of Hope is to bring hope to the hopeless and to transform lives in the various communities positively. We believe that this mission can be carried out through demonstrating the gospel of Jesus Christ. In doing this, we minister to the whole man by meeting spiritual needs, feeding the hungry, clothing those who need clothing, providing shelter for the homeless, providing health care and education. etc.
As we worked on this mission field, we were faced with two major challenges, these are what helped direct our mission to where we are today:
1. Teaching them to read and write;
2. Bridging the language barrier since they understood neither English nor French.
The Mission School of Hope, as the name implies, has brought hope to the Baka people of Molobo Mbang sub-division, Cameroon in Africa. As the Bible records in the book of Matthew 4:16 “THE PEOPLE WHICH SAT IN DARKNESS SAW GREAT LIGHT: AND TO THEM WHICH SAT IN THE REGION AND SHADOW OF DEATH LIGHT IS SPRUNG UP”.
We want this light to shine continuously and if the Lord has laid this burden in your heart, please join us in accomplishing this mission and vision that God has given. As stated by the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans (Romans 10:13-15a) “FOR WHOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED. HOW THEN SHALL THEY CALL ON HIM IN WHOM THEY HAVE NOT BELIEVED? AND HOW SHALL THEY BELIEVE IN WHOM THEY HAVE NOT HEARD? AND HOW SHALL THEY HEAR WITHOUT A PREACHER? AND HOW SHALL THEY PREACH EXCEPT THEY BE SENT?”
The Mission of Hope is fulfilling this scripture by God’s grace.
